General Rules

Pétanque is played on any surface. However, by the decision of the organising committee

or an umpire, the teams may be required to play on a marked and defined terrain. In this case, the terrain for National Championships and International Competitions, must have the

following minimum dimensions: 15 metres long x 4 metres wide.

Official Rules

Precision Shooting

The shooting lane will consist of a 1 metre diameter circle that is marked to locate the objects - target and obstacles - and four 50 centimetres diameter throwing circles which are linked together and whose front edges are 6 metres, 7 metres, 8 metres and 9 metres from the nearest edge of the circle where the targets and

obstacles are located.

Official Rules

Conduct and Fair Play

about to play. Only their team-mate/s may remain between the throwing circle and the jack.
