MBSF 2 rangkul kejuaraan, bawa pulang RM5,000

KUALA LUMPUR: MBSF 2 emerged champions of the team event at the Malaysian Inter-State Boules-Petanque Championships 2026 after edging AUG 1 2-1 in the final at Arena Pétanque Kuala Lumpur.
The victory saw MBSF 2 pocket RM5,000 in prize money after coming through a competitive three-day championship held from Oct 16-18.
A total of 34 teams took part in the tournament, with each team tie comprising three events — mixed doubles, mixed triples featuring two men and one woman, and mixed triples involving one man and two women.
Teams needed to win at least two of the three matches to secure the overall tie.
MBSF 2 began their knockout-stage campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 quarter-final victory over Melaka 1 before defeating ATM 1 2-0 in the semi-finals.
AUG 1, meanwhile, booked their place in the title decider after recording a 3-0 win over DBKL 2 in the quarter-finals before overcoming Pahang 1 2-0 in the last four.
MBSF 2 then prevailed 2-1 in the final to seal the championship, while Pahang 1 and ATM 1 shared third place.
Malaysian Boules Sports Federation (MBSF) president Cheah Ban Cheng said the turnout and competitive nature of the championship were encouraging for the domestic pétanque scene.
“We are pleased to see 34 teams taking part and competing strongly over the three days. The team format provides a good test as every combination has an important role to play towards the overall result,” said Cheah.
“Competitions such as this are important in providing our players with more opportunities to compete regularly and raise the overall standard of pétanque in the country.”
Cheah also congratulated MBSF 2 on their triumph and thanked all the participating teams for contributing to a competitive championship.
“Congratulations to MBSF 2 on winning the title and also to all the teams who took part. We want to continue creating a healthy competitive environment and provide more opportunities for the pétanque community to compete.”
The Malaysian Inter-State Boules-Petanque Championships 2026 was organised by MBSF, powered by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), Rakan Muda and Rakan Aktif, with support from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Kuckreja & Co and 100PLUS.
